2007 V STAR 1300 Tourer - I was shocked that every 4000 miles the valves have to be adjusted. The cost is around $150 each time. If I had known this I would have never bought the bike. I believe Yamaha should be responsible for this. I've had bikes since 1964 and have never had a motor that needed the valves adjusted every 4000 miles.
Oct 5, 2011 · My wife's 1300 V Star has an intermittent speedometer sticking. Been to the dealer 4 times but can't find the cause. Yamaha Customer Service says this is a unique problem that they have never heard of. Yamaha started production of the bike in 2007. Earlier bike which was similar to v star 1300 was XVZ 1300. There is big difference between XVS 1300 and XVZ 1300. Not sure if that bike has a carburetor or not but there could be some crap in the carb bowl. I would drain and remove the tank and clean it thorough. Clean out the fuel filter. Make sure fuel line is clear. Take of the carb bowl, at least.
